Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
darji is operated by Nicolas David, trading as darji, who is responsible for your data. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. What We Collect
Account info (email, name) if you register, with your email or with Google. With Google, we receive your name and email address from Google, and nothing else: never your Google password, contacts or files. Learning progress (XP, words learned, lesson scores). Usage data: the pages you open and what you tap, your browser and device, your approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address), and recordings of how the app is used on screen (session replays, with anything you type hidden). We do NOT collect your precise location, your contacts or your card details. Where you came from: the campaign named in the link that brought you, the first page you opened, the site that sent you, your country and when, kept with your account once you create one; and, only if you accept advertising cookies, the click ids Meta and Google add to their ads' links. If you write to us with the form on the Teams page: your name, your work email, your company, its team size, its country and your message.
2. How We Use It
To save and sync your learning progress. To personalize your learning experience (lesson recommendations, SRS scheduling). To understand how darji is used and fix what doesn't work (analytics and error reports). To know which of our ads and posts bring people to darji, and which lead to an account or a purchase. To send the emails you signed up for (your account, reminders you can turn off). To answer a company that writes to us with the Teams form: we keep what it sent for at most 3 years.
3. What We Don't Do
We never sell your personal data. Nothing goes to advertising platforms unless you accept advertising cookies (section 6). We never use your data for anything this policy doesn't say. The one sharing you choose: if a company gives you darji Pro on its team, it sees your name, your email, the day you joined, when you were last active, the lessons you've done, your stage, the words you've kept and your certificates, and nothing else (not your answers, not your recordings). You see this list before joining, and the company stops seeing it once you leave the team.
4. Data Storage
Your learning progress is stored locally on your device (localStorage) and, if you create an account, synced to our database (Neon PostgreSQL, hosted in London, UK). Each of your certificates (one per chapter finished, one per stage reached) has a link: it shows the name you choose and what the certificate says to anyone who has that link, never to search engines. You can close it at any time from the certificate. When you share darji with your account, the link carries your invitation code: whoever opens it can see your first name, and their browser keeps the code in a cookie for 30 days, until they create an account. If you send us your opinion with the « Your opinion? » form, we keep your sentence, the first name and place you typed, its language, your account and when you agreed to have it shown. It appears on darji, with that first name and place, only if you ticked that box and only once we have read and approved it; we may fix a typo, never what you said. To have it removed, write to hello@darji.ma; deleting your account deletes it too. A message you sent Wissal another way (WhatsApp, email) is shown only if you agreed, and removed the same way, on a word to hello@darji.ma. If you have Pro and ask Wissal a question with « Ask Wissal », we keep what you wrote or recorded, what it was about (the lesson, exercise or word) and her answer, in writing or by voice, so that you and the darji team alone can read and hear them; deleting your account deletes them, recordings included, and we delete them anyway 3 years after you asked. If you ask « Tell me when it's out » for darji's iPhone and Android apps, we keep your email address, your language, the page you asked from, the date and the sentence you agreed to, and use them only to send you one email the day the apps come out, then delete the list; to come off it before, write to hello@darji.ma (deleting your account takes you off too).
5. Exercise Content
All exercises are hand-written scripts. Your answers and progress are stored locally and optionally synced to our database if you have an account. Nothing is sent to third-party AI providers.
6. Cookies and Analytics
A cookie keeps you signed in. Another remembers where you first came from (the campaign in the link, the first page, the site that sent you, your country) for 90 days, until you create an account, which keeps it from then on. We also use PostHog, an analytics service hosted in the EU, which keeps a cookie and some local storage on your device to count visits and see how darji is used: pages viewed, taps, session replays, and where you first came from. When you are signed in, this is tied to your account number, never to your email. Advertising cookies, only if you accept them in the banner: Meta's Pixel and Google Ads' tag tell Meta and Google which pages you visit on darji, when you start lesson 1, create an account or pay (with the amount), so they can measure which ad brought you here and show you darji's ads. darji's server also sends Meta your account's creation and your purchase, with your email address hashed (a code Meta can only match with an address it already knows), your IP address and your browser. Their cookies (_fbp, _fbc, _gcl_*) and darji's own, which keeps the click ids of their ads (90 days), are set only after « Accept ». Your choice is kept on this device for 13 months at most, and you can change it here at any time. Without your « Accept », nothing goes to Meta or Google, and declining changes nothing in darji.Advertising cookies: no choice made on this device.
7. Services We Use
Vercel (hosting; its logs include IP addresses), Neon (database, London), PostHog (analytics, EU), Sentry (error reports), Resend (sending our emails), Paddle (payments), Google (sign-in, only if you choose « Continue with Google »), and Meta (Facebook, Instagram) and Google for advertising, only if you accept advertising cookies (section 6). Each one receives only what its job needs.
8. Your Rights
You can export your data at any time. You can delete your account whenever you like, in the app (the Me tab, at the bottom) or by email: what goes and what stays. You can use darji without an account: your progress then stays on your device, analytics apply unless you turn them off above, and advertising cookies only if you accept them.
9. Children
darji is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle handles billing and applicable taxes. Card details are never stored on our servers.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. We'll notify registered users of significant changes via email.
