About

Born in Marrakech. Teaching Darija for 10 years.

Wissal, founder of darji

I'm Wissal, Darija teacher and founder of darji.

My story

I grew up in Marrakech, surrounded by visitors from everywhere. Every day I saw the same thing. Tourists smiled, said bonjour, and left. They saw Morocco, but they never really met it.

I studied languages because I love how words connect people. And I learned something important. In Morocco, the door to people's hearts is not French, and it is not the Arabic from books. It is Darija.

For 10 years, I have taught Darija to people from all over the world. Expats who live here. Travelers who want more than a holiday. Partners who want to talk with their Moroccan family. Children of the diaspora who want to speak with their grandparents.

Many of them tried classical Arabic first. Then they went to the souk, and nobody spoke like the book. They felt lost.

So I teach the Darija we really speak. In the taxi. In the kitchen. At a wedding. With the family.

My method is simple. Real phrases first. Real situations. Clear explanations in English and French. No grammar headache.

I don't want to make you perfect. I want to make you welcome.

Darija is not a school language. It is a family language. Let me bring you to the table.

Marhba bik. Welcome.

How I teach on darji

Real Darija, not textbook Arabic

The words Moroccans actually use with their families and friends, each one recorded in my voice. Not a tidied-up version of Standard Arabic.

Real phrases, real situations

The taxi, the kitchen, a wedding, the family table: you learn what people really say there, and the manners that go with it.

Clear, in English and French

Explanations in your language, reviews that come back before you forget, lessons of a few minutes. No grammar headache.
